Rapid Urbanisation – [TIME-LAPSE]

NASA, TIME and Google, have teamed up to create a fascinating time-lapse video showcasing the rapid urbanisation of some of the world’s largest cities. The images come from orbiting satellites as part of NASA’s Landsat program. This program monitors how humans are rapidly altering the surface of the planet, through the use of eight satellites which between them have collected millions of images since 1984.

Journey Through New York City – [TIME-LAPSE]

District 7’s beautiful time-lapse through New York City captures the sights and sounds that bring this great metropolis to life.

From District7Media:

For us, this time-lapse production was produced using more than 50,000 still frames, shot over the course of 6 months traveling back and forth from Washington DC to New York City while we shot for clients. Our main goal was to capture the central part of the city in both visuals and audio. The sound effects used in this production were taken from the various locations we shot and were added in to give you the feeling of actually being there.

Comprised of thousands of carefully taken photographs, strung together and stabilized in post-production, Nightvision aims to inspire appreciation for these man-made landmarks.

Mirror City – [TIME-LAPSE]

Michael Shainblum presents a kaleidoscope of visuals from some of the great American cities: Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Michael says:

These clips were all processed from their original form, into the kaleidoscopic visuals that you see in this video. Many people visit these large cities every day, and all of these places have been shot and filmed, but I wanted to emulate these urban landscapes in a way that nobody has even seen before. I wanted to put man-made geometric shapes, mixed with elements of color and movement to create less of a structured video, and more of a plethora of visual stimulation.
